COLUMBIA, S.C. – The State of South Carolina and FEMA are opening three Disaster Recovery Centers in the cities of Cheraw (Chesterfield County) Dillon (Dillon County) and Conway (Horry County) Tuesday, Oct. 2. Other centers will be opening soon in the areas affected by Hurricane Florence.

Chesterfield County Residents Eligible for FEMA Individual Assistance ProgramCOLUMBIA, S.C. - At the request of Governor Henry McMaster, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has amended its disaster declaration for Hurricane Florence to make residents in Chesterfield County eligible to apply for the Individual Assistance program. Residents in Dillon, Horry, Marion, and Marlboro counties were previously made eligible to apply for aid through FEMA.

The Cheraw Gym Champs Team Competed in the First 2016 Low Country Classic Gymnastics Competition in Charleston on Saturday February 6. This competition featured over 300 gymnasts from gymnastics clubs all over South Carolina.
House on the Hill at Cheraw State Park Reopens

A treasured historic meeting house in Cheraw that had been closed for almost three years is now open and available for weddings, receptions, reunions and other gatherings. The House on the Hill at Cheraw State Park, a 1,000-square-foot facility built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939, has been restored by historic preservation standards and will begin accepting reservations on Tuesday, March 1.

St. David's Cemetery Association Announces Major Donation

Board representatives of St. David’s Cemetery Association have announced a major award from the Town of Cheraw through the Town’s Hospitality Fund. Mayor Andy Ingram presented the Association with a check in the amount of $75,000. Earlier this year Mayor Ingram and the Town Council had committed to award the Association $25,000 for every $100,000 of pledges and donations that had been received toward the goal of $400,000 which represents the estimated cost of the project.
