Cheraw, SC – On Thursday, June 13, the Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing to review and discuss the proposed zoning/rezoning requests. Afterward, it will make its recommendation to Council. RS3 Planning Collaborative, LLC's Mr. Rodney S. Tucker will be taking the lead on this project.
The EPA recently provided a fact sheet on the PCB contamination here in the Town of Cheraw. The EPA provided this fact sheet in an effort to keep the community informed on the work being conducted around the old Burlington Industries site (now Highland).

The Town of Cheraw has begun the process of adopting a Downtown Strategic Plan for 2019-2021. Town officials are inviting community members to contribute ideas. All residents are invited to participate, not just those who live or work downtown.
Rep. Richie Yow has just confirmed S.C. Department of Transportation will hold a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School, located on Highway 9 just west of Chesterfield.

Chesterfield County Residents Eligible for FEMA Individual Assistance Program COLUMBIA, S.C. - At the request of Governor Henry McMaster, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has amended its disaster declaration for Hurricane Florence to make residents in Chesterfield County eligible to apply for the Individual Assistance program. Residents in Dillon, Horry, Marion, and Marlboro counties were previously made eligible to apply for aid through FEMA.

Volunteerism expresses one of the highest forms of altruism and service. Nothing is more gratifying than helping others and the impression it makes on the person(s) and/or community. It is not unusual for building contractors to donate materials, equipment, and perhaps labor for Habitat for Humanity, or assemble a church or school's playground equipment.
The Town of Cheraw is interested and eager to better engage its residents and the business community. This public engagement survey is a tool to incorporate citizens perspectives, aspirations, and experiences in order to create community engagement throughout the Town of Cheraw.
On Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. the Town of Cheraw will host a public forum to kick-off its historic resources survey project in Town Hall’s Courtroom, 200 Market Street. The public is encouraged to participate.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Tuesday, Nov. 29) – Just two weeks remain for Hurricane Matthew survivors in South Carolina to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and submit disaster loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
The Cheraw Arts Commission presents Holiday Showcase exhibit during November at the Burr Gallery. The exhibit features fine crafts that include textiles, jewelry, glassware, and ceramics and artwork.

The Cheraw Gym Champs Bring Home Gold at the 2016 Low Country Classic
The Cheraw Gym Champs Team Competed in the First 2016 Low Country Classic Gymnastics Competition in Charleston on Saturday February 6. This competition featured over 300 gymnasts from gymnastics clubs all over South Carolina.
A treasured historic meeting house in Cheraw that had been closed for almost three years is now open and available for weddings, receptions, reunions and other gatherings. The House on the Hill at Cheraw State Park, a 1,000-square-foot facility built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939, has been restored by historic preservation standards and will begin accepting reservations on Tuesday, March 1.
The Town of Cheraw recently recognized 22 employees for milestone service anniversaries and their dedication during an awards banquet at Country Kitchen Restaurant on Thursday, December 17, 2015.

St. David's Cemetery Association Announces Major Donation

Board representatives of St. David’s Cemetery Association have announced a major award from the Town of Cheraw through the Town’s Hospitality Fund. Mayor Andy Ingram presented the Association with a check in the amount of $75,000. Earlier this year Mayor Ingram and the Town Council had committed to award the Association $25,000 for every $100,000 of pledges and donations that had been received toward the goal of $400,000 which represents the estimated cost of the project.
Cheraw mayor Andy Ingram has proclaimed Thursday, October 24 as Cheraw Head Start Awareness Day. Mayor Ingram met with teachers and students from Cheraw Head Start recently to sign the proclamation.

The restoration and renovation of the "House on the Hill" at Cheraw State Park may soon become reality, according to South Carolina Parks Recreation & Tourism Director Duane Parish.
The recently completed parallel taxiway at Cheraw Municipal Airport will be unveiled to the public in a ceremony April 11, and Mayor Andy Ingram is extending a special invitation to the community to attend the dedication.
The 100 block of Market Street will be transformed into a bustling holiday village on Saturday, December 1 as the Town of Cheraw hosts its inaugural Cheraw ChristmasFest.
Cheraw postal customers are being asked to watch their mail for a Customer Questionnaire, the results of which may determine the fate of the Downtown Cheraw Post Office.
The Town of Cheraw will join communities across the nation in hosting the 29th Annual "National Night Out" Tuesday, October 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Centennial Park in downtown Cheraw.
