The Mayor

Welcome to our beautiful Town!  I'm extremely proud to be the mayor of my hometown. Cheraw is known for its friendly people, well-maintained neighborhoods, great schools, active churches, incredible parks, low crime and low taxes.  We strive to maintain our small town atmosphere, while offering unique advantages that provide professional and personal growth opportunities.

Located on the banks of the Great Pee Dee River, Cheraw is a beautiful antebellum town of approximately 6,000 people.  Much of Cheraw is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the town is the birthplace of jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie.

Cheraw is in the heart of the two Carolinas, within an easy drive of the Atlantic Ocean and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are also home to two challenging golf courses, and if you enjoy the great outdoors, Cheraw State Park is only minutes from our Town Green and offers a beautiful lake, camping, and walking trails.
