Cheraw joins Countywide Curfew

As many of you know the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to impact our lives; socially and economically. As the virus continues to spread we have learned from the Department of Health and Environmental Control that Coronavirus has now made its way into Chesterfield County. We want everyone to be safe and healthy.

We want to make sure our resources here in the Town and County are used efficiently for those who need help. To help maintain the efficiency of our emergency services, we are joining a curfew with Chesterfield County Government and other municipalities in Chesterfield County. Starting tomorrow, March 25, 2020, there will be a curfew between the hours of 10PM to 6AM every day until further notice. The purpose is to prevent unnecessary stress on our emergency services and to curb the spread of the virus. This will also allow the police to better monitor for property crime when so many businesses are closed. This curfew does not impact necessary travel for work, to pharmacies, emergencies, or similar situations.

Town Services will continue to function as normal. Police, Fire, Water, Sewer, Public Works, and Administration are all fully staffed. Town Hall will continue to remain locked but all services are still being offered. The Community Center will remain closed and all Recreation Department events are cancelled until further notice. Waste Management will continue to collect garbage on the normal days, however due to reduction in Waste Management staff during this outbreak they will not collect ANY garbage outside of the containers.

We can all do our part to prevent the spread of this virus. Please continue to use social distancing, don’t travel unnecessarily, wash your hands at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap, use hand sanitizer, and sterilize surfaces. Please continue to observe recommendations from the CDC, DHEC, and Governor McMaster.

We will continue to update you should any new information arise.

Sincerely,
I am your Mayor
Andrew R. Ingram
