Senator Lindsey Graham requests $4.4 million to Support Cheraw's Water Needs

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has included the Town of Cheraw’s new water treatment plant as one of his funding requests for the U.S. Senate to consider later this year. The $4.4 million dollar request would enable the Town to begin Phase I construction of the town’s new water treatment plant. “The new water treatment plant is projected to cost $40 million dollars, and if this request is approved, it will be extremely helpful in getting the project moving forward” said Rob Wolfe, Assistant Town Administrator. Phase I work includes site preparation, environmental remediation, and required permitting for the project. “We appreciate the support Senator Graham has invested into our request. This water treatment plant is critical to sustaining our residents and industries” continued Wolfe.

The Town of Cheraw is implementing a 10-year capital improvement plan that includes the construction of a new water treatment plant, the expansion of the existing wastewater facility, and upgrades to water and sewer lines in town. The total cost to implement the plan is projected to be $80 million dollars.
