Cheraw Celebrates Arbor Day 2021

The Town of Cheraw celebrated its annual arbor day on Friday December 3rd at Jacqueline Ellerbe-Shannon Park on Roddy Street.  The ceremony was opened with an invocation by Reverend Richardson of Pee Dee Union Baptist Church, followed by remarks from Town Administrator Michael Smith, the history of Arbor Day, and remarks from Mayor Ingram. Cheraw Parks and Grounds Director Carl Compton planted a ceremonial tulip tree in Councilwoman Shannon’s honor.  After the tree planting Mayor Ingram presented the 2021 Arbor Day Proclamation to Jackey’s family.
