Cheraw Launches the 43rd Annual Christmas Card Contest

The 43rd Annual Christmas Card Contest will begin Monday, November 2 and will end on Friday, November 20.  Prizes will be awarded in each grade and an overall grand prize will be awarded.  The contest is open to all Cheraw students/residents in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade.  Winners will be notified by Monday, December 7.  Winning cards will be displayed in the Mary Burr Art Gallery at the Cheraw Community Center 200 Powe Street during the month of December.  Due to Covid restrictions there will be no public reception this year.  Visitors can come by the gallery Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Face masks and temperature checks are required.  For more information contact the office at 843-537-8420. 
 
 
GUIDELINES:  One entry per child.  The card needs to be the original and creative work of the child entering.  The child’s first and last name, age, school, homeroom teacher, and grade need to be placed on the back of the card.  The card size should be 8 ½” x 5 ½” and not contain any items that might become unattached such as sequins, cotton balls, chalk, etc.  Painted or hand drawn cards on white paper are recommended so they may be reproduced as Christmas cards for the Cheraw Recreation Department and the Cheraw Arts Commission. Cards that do not meet the guidelines may not be judged.  The cards may be turned in at the schools or at the Community Center by Friday, November 20
