The Town of Cheraw Mourns the Recent Passing of Councilwoman Jacqueline Ellerbe-Shannon

The Town of Cheraw mourns the passing of Councilwoman Jacqueline Ellerbe-Shannon over the weekend.  Councilwoman Ellerbe-Shannon served Cheraw’s 4th Council District since 2006 and most recently served as the Mayor Pro Tempore since 2020.

Councilwoman Ellerbe-Shannon was involved with many Town projects over her tenure; including the creation of Byrd Park, honoring South Carolina NAACP founder Levi G. Byrd, the growth of the annual National Night Out program to promote strong police and community relations, and a strong supporter of community action when it came to keeping Cheraw clean. At this year’s annual Arbor Day Ceremony a tree will be planted in her honor.
