Public Meeting on Proposed Chesterfield County 1% Sales Tax
You may read an FAQ on the Proposed Tax by clicking here.
- The proposed tax will appear on the November Ballot as a referendum and must be passed by the popular vote of county residents.
- The proposed tax would be used to help fund the SC Highway 9 Road Widening Project, which would turn Hwy 9 into a four lane road from Pageland to Chesterfield. The project will help provide for the long term economic health of Chesterfield County and Cheraw by providing a faster and safer transportation route through the county.
- There is currently a 1% Sales Tax in Chesterfield County that funded the Chesterfield County School Districts Bonds, this sales tax expires in August of 2025.
- The sales tax on the November Ballot is not an additional sales tax, it will go in effect at the end of the current sales tax.
