Cheraw Participates in the Great American Cleanup

In October of 2019 the Town of Cheraw through its Main Street Program won an award of 35 trees through Palmetto Pride’s Tree Grant Program.  These trees were installed by Cheraw’s Parks and Grounds crews in various locations around the Town.  New trees found homes along various streets, in South Side Park, and Huckleberry Park.

Part of the condition for winning the grant was participating in the Great American Cleanup, where teams of volunteers would hit local roads to clean up litter around the Town.  Unfortunately the Coronavirus put a halt to volunteer group participation, but Cheraw Public Works and Cheraw Parks and Grounds stepped up to help clean up our streets.  Over the course of the morning the fourteen-person crew was able to remove 2 illegal dumping sites and collect 35 bags of roadway litter.  Remember that we can all do our part to keep Cheraw beautiful!  If you see someone illegally dumping please call the Cheraw Police Department at 843-537-7868.  If  you see someone throwing litter from their vehicle, report them to Palmetto Pride Litterbusters by going online to
