New Taxiway To Be Unveiled April 11

The recently completed parallel taxiway at Cheraw Municipal Airport will be unveiled to the public in a ceremony April 11, and Mayor Andy Ingram is extending a special invitation to the community to attend the dedication.

A brief program will begin at the airport terminal at 6:00 pm and will detail the airport's importance to the Town of Cheraw and the business community. Completed with the assistance of over $800,000 in grant funds from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission (SCAC), the improvements included construction, lighting and marking of the final segment of the parallel taxiway to the runway.

"This is another phase in our airport improvement plan that will better serve our community and meet the demands of our airport," Mayor Ingram said. "Our community's local industrial and business executives depend on air travel, and these improvements are another tool our town can use towards Cheraw's future economic development."
