SENIORS MORNING OUT (SMO)

Come join us for Seniors Morning Out on the 2nd Tuesdays of each month from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Cheraw Community Center. Registration is not required, so come in ready to mingle, play BINGO, games, line dance and just have fun! This event is for the young at heart (ages 50+), but others are encouraged to join too.

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is best described as a combination of ping-pong badminton and tennis played indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court with a net like a tennis net. Players use a paddle that is like a ping-pong paddle, but bigger. Come join the fun on Fridays from 9:00am – 11:00am at the Cheraw Community Center and learn the game!

BINGO NIGHT

It's back – so join us again for a fun of night BINGO on Tuesday, May 23 at the Cheraw Recreation and Leisure Services Department Teen Center! BINGO games from 5:30pm – 7:00pm. Entry fee only $1.00 with prizes for every round!

3rd THURSDAYS CONCERTS

Join the Town of Cheraw Recreation and Leisure Services for our 3rd Thursday’s 2023 summer concert series at the Cheraw Community center from 7:00pm – 9:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm)

  • Thursday 5/18: The Sand Band
  • Thursday 6/15: The Band of Oz
  • Thursday 7/20: The North Tower Band
  • Thursday 8/17: The Embers

For ages 21+ and admission is only $7.00 (pay at the door event). Dine at a Cheraw restaurant the day of the concert and present your receipt for $2 off concert admission. Casual dress attire and do not forget to bring your own cooler (BYOC) and chair. The concert begins at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm).

PEE DEE REGION 3-DAY FOOTBALL CAMP

Join us for a football camp sponsored by the Cheraw Recreation & Leisure Services and Optimus Prime Sports.

This 3-day (June 6, 7 & 8) camp is being held at Arrowhead Park from 5:00pm – 7:00pm and is designed for young athletes (ages 7-13) who want to develop their football skills and take their game to the next level. Players are to bring their workout gear, cleats and a towel and be prepared to go through combine, defensive and offensive drills.

Advanced registration ($25.00 per player) at the Cheraw Community Center.

2023 SUMMER CAMP

Wondering what to do with your school-aged kids this summer? Well, the Cheraw Recreation & Leisure Services Summer Playground camp is full of fun and activities! The camp is for kids ages 5 through 12 (must have turned 5 by June 1, 2023, and cannot turn 13 before June 1, 2023). This will be an all-day camp (Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm) and will be held at Cheraw Intermediate School beginning Monday, June 12, 2023, and ending on Friday, July 21, 2023. Please note the camp will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in observance of the holiday.

Our summer camp’s purpose is to offer quality camper-focused programs that are educational and experiential in an engaging and affirming environment. Each week will be filled with activities including games, sports, outside time, life skills, creative play, and interest-based skill building. Registration for the camp runs May 1 through June 1 at the Cheraw Recreation Department with limited slots available. The cost for campers per week is $55.00 for city residents and $65.00 for out-of-city residents. Camp fees must be paid in advance to secure slot. NATURE CAMP 

For the youth who love to explore and discover fun outdoor nature and crafts, please join the Town of Cheraw Recreation & Leisure Services for a Nature Camp at the Cheraw State Park this summer.

Camp times: 9:00am -12:00pm (Monday - Thursday)

1st Camp:           Monday, June 12 – Thursday, June 16

2nd Camp:          Monday, July 10 – Thursday, July 13

Camp is for ages 8-13 and limited to 12 campers each week ($35 each week in-city / $40 each week out-of-city)

The camp is being held at the Cheraw State Park (100 State Park Rd. Cheraw). Campers are to wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle and a small bookbag daily.

ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Join the Town of Cheraw for its annual Independence Celebration event on Monday, July 3, 2023. The traditional children’s parade will begin at 11:00am. Parade participants will line-up in the parking lot behind Flemming Funeral Home by 10:30am and proceed to the Town Hall. All children are welcome to ride their bikes, trikes, or wagons/strollers in the parade with prizes being awarded for the most Patriotic costume and best decorated bike, trike, or wagon.

The festivities continue later Monday evening at Cheraw High School stadium from 6:00pm - 10:00pm with live music, FX game trailer, Party Planet waterslides, and food trucks. The stage will host the Chairmen of the Board band playing your favorites starting at 7:00pm. Spectacular fireworks display with dazzling special effects and bright lights, by Zambelli Fireworks will be the grand finale that will start around 10:00pm. This is a rain or shine event and admission is free (small fee charged for games, water slides and face painting). Bring your lawn chairs, towels and enjoy the celebration!
