Cheraw Mayor Proclaims Head Start Awareness Day

Cheraw mayor Andy Ingram has proclaimed Thursday, October 24 as Cheraw Head Start Awareness Day. Mayor Ingram met with teachers and students from Cheraw Head Start recently to sign the proclamation. In part, the proclamation reads: "Because our children are the strength of our great state and the hope for a better tomorrow, we must do everything possible to ensure that they have the resources necessary to achieve their maximum potential." Head Start is a comprehensive child development and school readiness program that has served children from ages 3-5, pregnant women, and their families since 1965. Cheraw Head Start serves 506 children in Chesterfield and Marlboro counties. "I encourage all citizens of Cheraw to recognize the positive impact of Head Start on the healthy development and educational success of our young people," Mayor Ingram said.
