Finances in the Town are handled by the Clerk-Treasurer.  Each Spring the Town Department Heads, the Town Administrator, the Clerk-Treasurer, and the Mayor meet to prepare a budget for the upcoming fiscal year.  This budget is then presented by the Mayor to the Town Council who votes to adopt it by ordinance after a public hearing.  The Town's Fiscal Year runs from July 1 to June 30 and is named after the year it ends in.  For example a Fiscal Year that begins on July 1, 2000 and ends on June 30, 2001 is FY2001. 

At the conclusion of the fiscal year an independent auditor prepares an Audit Report of the Town's expenditures from the previous fiscal year. The annual audit is typically completed within 6 months of the end of the Fiscal Year.
