Town of Cheraw Prepares For Halloween Observation

In observance of Halloween, the Town of Cheraw will host the Kid's Halloween Walk Thursday, October 30 from 3:45 until 5 PM, giving youngsters an opportunity to trick or treat at downtown area merchants. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and the walk will begin at the Theatre on the Green (located behind the statue of Dizzy Gillespie). The Town will observe Halloween for trick or treaters on Friday, October 31 from 5-7 pm. Children, ages 12 and under, may trick or treat in area neighborhoods during those hours.

Brownfield Grant Meeting October 21

A public kickoff meeting will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 5:30 pm in the upstairs courtroom at Cheraw Town Hall. This meeting will inform citizens of the benefits of a $300,000 Brownfields grant the Town of Cheraw recently received from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Community members are invited to share locations of Brownfields sites potentially contaminated with hazardous substances and petroleum products for consideration. The Town recently hired the environmental firm of GEL Engineering to oversee this project. Questions concerning this public meeting should be directed to Mike Smith, Cheraw Town Administrator, at 537-8400.
