Equestrian & Field Trail Facilities

Equestrian FacilitiesThe sand hills have many wonderful places to ride, camp and show horses. There are also dirt roads available for buggies and wagons. Trail rides and large equestrian events are held throughout the year.

Cheraw State Park

The 14-mile White Horse Trail connects to the trails in Sand Hills State Forest. Primitive horse camping sites available.

The H. Cooper Black Recreation Area

in combination with Sandhills State Forest, features over 100 miles of marked trails and sandy roads for riders, a 24 stall horse barn, clubhouse, 2500' tether lines, 26 corrals, a full size arena, and primitive and full service camp sites. Trails include the Pine Barrens Trail, 26 miles; Sugar Loaf Horse Trail, 20 miles; and Pine Barrens Wagon Trail, 27 miles. (843) 378-1555 hcooperblack@scprt.com

Sporting Dog Field TrialsH. Cooper Black, Jr. Memorial Field Trial Area is one of the best field trial facilities in the east with trails, 500 dog kennel, barn, arena, camping and group building, and pond test sites. Regional, national and local events are held here throughout the season.
