
The Recreation Division provides activities in many areas of leisure interest. The classes, leagues, and special events are provided to served the community for the pleasure of participation in enjoyable and wholesome activities. You are invited to join us in your leisure pursuits. Please let us know if you would like to see new activities initiated by the Recreation Division.

GIGGLE GANG & SUMMER ADVENTURE CAMP: To be held at Faith Christian Academy begins Monday, June 11 and runs through Friday, August 3rd. 8:30 a.m - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. (Holiday: Closed July 4th.)
AGES: 4 & 5 yrs. old AND 6 - 9 yrs. old (must be 4 by June 1, 2007 & cannot turn 10 before June 1, 2007.) Cost for 8 week camp: $30 per week city residents; $60 per week county residents. For 1/2 day campers (8:30—12 noon) is $20 per week city; $40 per week county. Each week has a fun theme.
NATURE CAMP: Join us at the Cheraw State Park for fun outdoor activities.
1st Session: Mon., June 4 - Thurs., June 7 2nd Session: Mon., June 18 - Thurs., June 21 AGES: 7-13 yrs. 9:00-11:00 am. $22 city; $33 county per camp; Limited: 20 each. Leader: Zenda Rushing.
CAMP RAINBOW
: Fun camp for special needs students. June 18 - June 22 & July 16 -20; 8:30 am-12:00. Activities include: crafts, athletics, dancing and games. FREE To all CAMPERS! Led by Tracey Bozard
THEATRE ARTS CAMP
: Learn about acting, makeup, & music from Porkchop Productions. Sponsored by CAC. July 16th—20th, 9:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m. Reading age & up. FEES: $35 CAC members, $40 non-members.
"YOUNG AT ART" CAMPS:
I. Intro to Pottery:
1st Session: 2nd–4th Graders: June 13, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. 2nd Session: 5th Graders & up: June 13, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Led by Potter Randy McCall. Limit 10 each. $13; $18 includes supplies and finished object.
II. Timeless Techniques:
1st—5th Graders. June 18—21, 1:00—3:00 p.m. Learn about famous artists’ styles & techniques. Supplies included. Cost: $25; $30 Instructor: Sara Ingram
III. Fabric Painting:
1st—6th Grades. July 9—11, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Instructor Gina Bowles will teach painting on silk. Supplies included. $20 city; $25 out-of-city residents. Limit 10 participants.
ADULT EXERCISE CLASSES:
KICKBOXING/AEROBICS:
M, W, F, 6:00 am - 7:00 am. Instructor: Robbie Bennett. Monthly fee: $10 city; $13 for county residents.
MORNING STEP AEROBICS (Intermediate Class): M, W, 8:15 am -9:15 am. Monthly fee: $24 city; $32 county. Instructor: Cathy Hess. (Childcare provided for a small fee. Call for more details)
EVENING STEP AEROBICS: (Beginners) T, TH, 5:15 p.m.—6:15 p.m. Monthly Fee: $24; $32. Instructor: Cathy Hess

FOOTBALL CAMP
: June 25 - June 27, 9 am - 12 noon. FEE: $20 city; $30 county. AGES: 6 - 14 yrs. State Champion Coach Johnny White & his staff; CHS Practice Football Field.
SOCCER CAMP: June 11 - June 14, 9 am - 12 noon at Arrowhead Park, boys & girls ages 6 -14. Conducted by Coach Norma Grant. FEE: $40 city; $60 county includes a t-shirt.
GOLF CAMP: June 11 – June 13, 9 am - 12 noon. AGES: 10 -17 , boys & girls. FEE: $20 city $30 county . Conducted at the Cheraw State Park Golf Course by Golf Pro David Hyduke & staff.
KARATE: Thursday evenings for ages 5 & up. $24 city/$32 county every 4 weeks. Instr: Kenny Green.
DIXIE YOUTH DISTRICT 5 TOURNAMENTS:
July 7—13 at Arrowhead Park. Cheraw will host both the AAA and Majors tournaments simultaneously. The AAA tournament will be a 5-team round robin event, while the Majors will be a 4-team double elimination tournament. Both winners will advance to the State Tournament at Freedom Florence on July 21.

Meet me Downtown Summer Concert Series: presented by Cheraw Arts Commission, the Town of Cheraw, the Cheraw Parks and Recreation Department and the Greater Cheraw Chamber of Commerce. All events are from 5:30—8:30 p.m. unless noted otherwise. All events are Free admission!

SENIOR CITIZENS’ DAY: Thursday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. All area seniors are invited to join us at the Cheraw Community Center gym for fun, food & fellowship. Free for 60 and up. Call to sign up by May 17, 537-8420. Co-sponsored by the Chesterfield Co. Council on Aging.

EXERCISE CLASSES
The Cheraw Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department offers several exercise programs throughout the year. Interested participants may join any of the classes at anytime. It is hoped that the varied times will accommodate everyone who is interested in a fitness program. All classes meet in the teen center at the Cheraw Community Center. To register for any of the classes or for more information, please contact the recreation office at 537-8420.

Mother/Daughter Tea Party Over 75 Mothers/Daughters & Grandmothers enjoyed a precious and unforgettable Tea day.
Annual Senior Citizens Day 150 Seniors enjoyed a day of food, entertainment & fellowship. All seniors 60 & up are invited to join us for entertainment, door prizes, & lunch. ALL FREE!
Mother/Son Date Night 150 mothers/grandmothers & sons enjoyed a night of dancing, dinner, prizes & games.
Cheraw's Annual Independence Day Celebration
Celebrate America's Birthday on July 3 with a children's patriotic parade at 10:30 am on Front Street & an evening celebration of fireworks, amusement rides & much more family fun. Evening celebration begins at 7pm-10 pm downtown Cheraw. Free Admission!
